The smaller the footprint of a kayak, the more it must sink into the water to support a given displacement, making it more susceptible to variations in load. Consequently, a 16-foot sea kayak is more stable and better equipped for handling a load than a shorter kayak.

The Sirona, a kayak released in 2015, was met with immediate success, as most testers noted that it retained the versatility of its predecessor, the Avocet, while possessing a more playful personality reminiscent of the earlier Pintail. Despite its lively nature, its 16-foot hull is one of the fastest in its class and responds predictably to edging.
